Malcolm Souness

Dairy Energy Engineer

Malcolm Souness
Malcolm Joined Natural Systems in September 2008 after four years providing outboard engineering and commercial development support to the BioGenCoolTM project. Malcolm is now the Energy Management Engineer at WEL Networks Ltd, and provides independent consulting services to NSL.

In March 2010, WEL Networks and Natural Systems produced a report for EECA and Landcorp that evaluates the options for combining biogas cogeneration with solar and wind generation equipment on dairy farms.

Malcolm is the Energy Auditor that audited energy use of Landcorp's 30 dairy farms, with his recommendations resulting in $50,000 of annual energy cost savings (approximately 9%). The "Souness dairy model" presented estimated cost savings of 10 to 16%. This was just 1% short of the actual cost savings achieved by customer led implementation of recommendations.
